In this world, we have a multitude of hats that help others know who we are in this world.Here is my journey: As a mother, teacher, researcher, community member, and political activist, these roles have played a significant aspect in my life. Growing up in Scarborough, at the tender age of four, I began to recognize the treatment dis/advantages students had at my elementary school. As a Hakka-Canadian, my parents challenged raising me to be more ‘Chinese,’ ‘Hakka,’ or ‘Canadian.’ As a result, my educational path brought me to study and work as an Early Childhood Educator at George Brown College and Toronto Metropolitan University. Within the unionized centre, I fell into the field of politics, where I initiated the first social media VP position, was a guest speaker at George Brown on the benefits of unionizing childcare centres and was elected as the Provincial and National Ontario Representative for C.U.P.E.I moved into the teaching field with the Peel District School Board. My roles have been from K-7, ELL, ISSP, and Equity Teacher. With my work grounded in equity, I ran for the 2019 election as a Federal NDP Candidate for Brampton-North. In addition, I extended work continued in my small business- Yeh coaching and consulting for teachers in building interview skills. In my education sphere, I am in my final year of the C&P graduate program with aspirations for the doctorate program. My focus is on topics such as self-reflection for teachers, Equity in STEM, and dismantling the myth of the model minority.
