Call for Papers: Educating for Peace - Special Issue of the Journal of Character Education
Forum Description
CALL FOR PAPERS for a special issue of the issue of the Journal of CharacterEducation (JCE) focusing on educating for peace
We are soliciting manuscripts for an upcoming issue of the JCE devoted to peace education.
The Journal of Character Education publishes peer-reviewed manuscripts that add to the
body of knowledge of research and practical applications in our field.
We are seeking two types of manuscripts: (1) conceptual manuscripts that connect education
with peacemaking, and (2) manuscripts describing notable examples, in educational settings,
of initiatives aimed at promoting the skills, knowledge, and dispositions required to educate
peaceful citizens and to build peaceful environments. We are especially interested in
manuscripts that address real conditions in a given society or region.
For example, manuscripts might address all or some of the following questions:
What is the role of education in conflict or post-conflict societies?
What elements should be taken into consideration for the design and/or
implementation of educational initiatives that promote peace education? (Analyses
may focus on a classroom, school, district, national or international level).
How does a particular initiative contribute to the development of a more peaceful
society? What evidence do you have of the effectiveness of the initiative? What
lessons learned emerged throughout the process of implementation?
We would appreciate your sharing this information with your colleagues and considering
submitting your own manuscript for this special issue.
